A grass fire in Lyndon, Solihull, spread to around 20 properties on Thursday afternoon.

According to West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS), firefighters were called to the blaze shortly before 2.15pm on August 13, with four fire engines and two brigade response vehicles sent to the scene.

Crews from Ward End, Willenhall, Smethwick and Solihull fire stations attended the incident, with 10 firefighters working to bring the fire under control.

The blaze spread from grass and affected a number of properties, including sheds and fences.

Firefighters used hose reels and main jets to tackle the flames, while fire breaks were created to help prevent the fire from spreading further.

The extreme heat made the incident particularly challenging for crews.

WMFS confirmed no casualties were reported.

The fire was eventually contained and extinguished, with the final fire engine leaving the scene at around 10pm.

A brigade response vehicle returned to the area shortly after 11pm to check for any remaining hotspots.
