More than 150 local residents gathered in Balsall Common on Saturday (22 August) to celebrate the official opening of a new private healthcare practice.

AtWell Private GP and Health welcomed members of the community to its new premises, with the ribbon formally cut by the Mayor of Solihull during a launch event attended by local families, healthcare professionals and community representatives.

Visitors were invited to tour the new practice, meet the clinical team and enjoy complimentary refreshments including coffee, milkshakes, ice cream and charcuterie.

Families were also catered for with children's activity packs and entertainment throughout the afternoon.

One of the most popular attractions of the event was a series of free ear health checks carried out by practice nurse Kate, with many residents, including the mayor, taking advantage of the service.

The opening was also attended by the President of Balsall Common District Council, highlighting what organisers described as the strong community support behind the new venture.

Speaking at the event, co-founder Dr Raj Atwell said: "It's a privilege to be opening a practice in such a wonderful community as Balsall Common.

Fellow co-founder Matt Perkins said private healthcare offered patients faster access to services while allowing them to build relationships with their doctors.
