Music lovers are being invited to sing along as Shirley Band prepares to host its annual Last Night of the Proms concert in Dorridge next month.

The much-loved event, organised by Solihull's own brass band, will take place at St Philip's Church Centre on Saturday 26 September and promises an evening packed with patriotic favourites, traditional classics and popular brass band music.

This year's concert will feature guest vocalist Hannah McCubbin, who will join the band for a selection of iconic Proms pieces and audience favourites, including Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem and Fantasia on British Sea Songs.

The performance will be led by the band's Musical Director, Kieron Howe.

Alongside the traditional Proms repertoire, audiences can look forward to a programme celebrating music from across the British Isles.

Highlights include Ralph Vaughan Williams' Folk Song Suite, Malcolm Arnold's Four Cornish Dances, Peter Graham's Gaelforce, and popular arrangements of Men of Harlech and Loch Lomond.

The concert will also feature performances of The Water is Wide, Londonderry Air and music from the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only.

"Our Last Night of the Proms concert is one of the highlights of the band's calendar.

The concert will run from 7pm to 9.15pm, with doors opening at 6.30pm.
