Country and Western Charity Event

Marie Curie Knowle is bringing a taste of the Wild West to Solihull this weekend with the return of its popular Country and Western event.

Taking place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, the two-day event will feature live country music from Two Ways Home and Robin David Cooper, alongside a huge selection of Western-inspired fashion, homeware and children's toys.

New stock will also be added overnight, giving visitors even more reason to return on Sunday.

Balsall Common Fun Run

The Balsall Common Fun Run will return on Sunday, September 13, welcoming runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities.

Organised by The Lily Mae Foundation, the event will feature Mini Runs for children, a Junior 5km, Family 5km and adult 5km and 10km races.

Activities will begin at Balsall Common Primary School, with Mini Runs starting at 11am and the main races at 12 noon.

Temporary road closures will be in place around the village during the event.

Lapworth Scarecrow Festival

Families are invited to explore dozens of creative scarecrow displays when Scarecrows in Lapworth returns on Saturday 12 September.

This year's theme is "Heroes and Villains", with residents across the village creating imaginative displays inspired by superheroes, knights, pirates, witches and more.

Visitors can follow a self-guided trail around the village, voting for their favourite scarecrow along the way.

Route maps cost £5 per family and include access to the Village Hall site, where there will be food and drink stalls, children's games, local traders, live entertainment and an art exhibition featuring work from Lapworth School pupils.

The event starts from 12 noon at Lapworth Village Hall, with prize-giving taking place later in the afternoon.

Dogs on leads are welcome.
