Solihull pupils have been congratulated on their A and T-Level results by the leader of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC).

Cllr Karen Grinsell, leader of SMBC and cabinet portfolio holder for children and education, praised students for their hard work throughout their school careers.

She said the results were "testament" to the effort pupils had put in, from completing coursework and sitting exams to keeping up with lessons and homework.

Cllr Grinsell said: "Well done to everyone, this outstanding set of results is testament to all the hard work you have put in not just this year when you turned in your coursework and sat your exams, but throughout your time at school.

"Every double lesson you've ploughed through on a warm afternoon and every bit of homework you've done when you might have wished you were somewhere else contributed to that feeling of joy this morning if you got the results you were hoping for.

"You should be incredibly proud of your achievement and the effort you put in to get there."

She also paid tribute to teachers across the borough, saying the results reflected the work of the "brilliant and dedicated teachers" supporting local children.

While many pupils will have secured university places following their results, Cllr Grinsell acknowledged that others may still be deciding what to do next.

She said: "Whilst many of you will have secured university places with today's results, I know there will be plenty who still aren't sure what they should do next."

She added that support is available through seven post-results drop-in sessions being run by the council's Skills for Success team.

The sessions are designed to help young people explore their options and decide on their next steps after receiving their results.
