Solihull performers bring West End favourites to The Core stage
By Emily Griffin 2nd Oct 2026
Three major musicals will receive their Solihull premieres at The Core Theatre this autumn as local amateur theatre companies bring hit West End productions to the borough.
Audiences will have the chance to see Dear Evan Hansen, Everybody's Talking About Jamie and The Great British Bake Off Musical – all produced and performed by local talent.
The season opens with Creators Theatre Company's production of Dear Evan Hansen from October 6 to 10.
The award-winning musical follows an anxious teenager whose life is changed by a misunderstanding that spirals out of control.
The show features popular songs including Waving Through a Window and You Will Be Found.
Later in the month, St Alphege Musical Production Society (STAMPS) will stage Everybody's Talking About Jamie from October 20 to 24.
Inspired by a true story, the musical follows teenager Jamie New as he pursues his dream of becoming a drag queen, despite the expectations placed upon him.
The trio of premieres concludes with St Augustine's Musical Theatre Company's production of The Great British Bake Off Musical from November 10 to 14.
Based on the popular television series, the show follows a group of amateur bakers competing in the famous tent.
Katie Holtom, a local producer involved in amateur theatre in Solihull for more than a decade, said it was exciting to see three major musicals making their local debut in such a short space of time.
She added: "These are shows people might associate with the West End or major touring productions, but they're being brought to life right here in Solihull by local people.
"I'd really encourage people to come along, support these companies and see just how much talent we have right here in Solihull."
Tickets for all three productions are available through The Core Theatre.
