A man has been charged in connection with a stabbing in Shirley.

Police launched an investigation after a man was stabbed on Stratford Road at around 4.20pm on September 12.

The victim suffered injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening.

Following enquiries, officers arrested a man in connection with the incident over the weekend.

Atif Shabbir, 29, has since been charged with wounding with intent, robbery, dangerous driving and driving without insurance.

He appeared before Birmingham Magistrates' Court on September 19 and was remanded in custody.

West Midlands Police said its investigation remains ongoing and has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
