A popular Caribbean restaurant and cocktail bar in Solihull has closed its doors permanently as part of a wider restructuring programme affecting the chain.

Turtle Bay, which was located on Station Road, is among three restaurants to have shut across the UK, alongside branches in Walthamstow and Middlesbrough.

The closure comes as the company moves forward with plans for a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA), a process that allows businesses to reorganise their finances and renegotiate debts while continuing to operate.

Turtle Bay currently has around 50 restaurants nationwide and is known for its Caribbean-inspired menu, cocktails and bottomless brunches.

The business was bought back by founder Ajith Jayawickrema in May 2025 from private equity firm Piper, which had supported the brand since 2013.

In a statement, the company said it believes it has a sustainable business at its core but continues to face challenges affecting the wider hospitality sector.

A spokesperson said: "Like much of the UK hospitality sector, Turtle Bay continues to face significant economic headwinds."

The company pointed to rising costs, including food, energy, business rates, employment and recycling expenses, as well as changing customer spending habits and footfall patterns.

The closure is likely to come as a disappointment to many customers, with the Solihull restaurant having built up thousands of positive online reviews during its time in the town centre.

One customer described the venue as having an "amazing atmosphere" with "friendly and helpful staff", while another said it was the "best bottomless brunch" they had experienced.

Google now lists the Solihull branch as permanently closed.

The closure leaves another vacant unit on Station Road and marks the latest change to Solihull's town centre hospitality scene.
