Solihull School has received national recognition for its GCSE results and charitable work, winning one award and being highly commended in another.

The school was named winner of The Telegraph's Best GCSEs accolade, part of its Best Value Private Schools 2026 awards.

It was also highly commended in the Charitable Work Champion category at the School House Awards, recognising its fundraising and community work.

The Telegraph award highlights the school's latest GCSE results, with 76% of grades awarded at 9-7, including 55% at 9-8 and 30% at grade 9.

Ten pupils achieved 10 or more grade 9s, while the school's value-added measure placed it in the top 1% of schools nationally for pupil progress between Year 7 and Year 11.

Alongside its academic achievements, Solihull School was recognised for its charitable activities, which involve pupils from Nursery through to Sixth Form.

These include pupil-led fundraising challenges, School Council initiatives, volunteering and partnerships with charities and community organisations.

Staff also take part in fundraising activities in their own time, including cycling, running and walking challenges to support good causes.

School House Awards judge Dr Spurr said: "Solihull's admirably diverse charitable programmes, in which all 1,560 pupils are involved, result in concrete, positive humanitarian impact and outcomes."

Headmaster Charles Fillingham said the school's sense of community and belonging was central to its success.

He said: "I have never come across another school with the sense of community and the sense of belonging that we have at Solihull School.

"Pupils and staff work together for success; families are supportive; sports and trips and clubs are legion."

Mr Fillingham added: "This is a work-hard, play-hard kind of school.

"It's not a secret recipe – it's called good education."

The awards reflect the school's values of Ambition, Opportunity and Community, with pupils encouraged to achieve academically while making a positive contribution to the wider community.
