Passengers travelling from Solihull and Dorridge have been warned to expect busier train services this weekend as industrial action affecting West Midlands Railway continues.

Following the announcement of rail strikes from the TSSA union, Chiltern Railways has said its services in the West Midlands are expected to be particularly busy on Friday 10 July and Saturday 11 July.

The operator will be the only train company running through Birmingham Moor Street on both days, meaning stations including Solihull, Dorridge, and Birmingham Moor Street are expected to see increased passenger numbers.

Queuing systems will be introduced at some stations to help manage demand, with passengers being advised to allow extra time for their journeys.

Chiltern Railways has also warned that high temperatures forecast across the region could lead to further disruption.

Parts of the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire are expected to experience temperatures above 30°C for prolonged periods this week.

Hot weather can increase the risk of infrastructure failures, delays, cancellations, and last-minute changes to services.

Michael Stewart, commercial and customer strategy director at Chiltern Railways, said: "Passengers should check their journeys before travelling and carry a bottle of water with them at all times."

Vishal Khatri, Network Rail central route area director for Chiltern, added that passengers should plan ahead, allow extra time for travel, and check before setting off.

The warning comes as Chiltern Railways also prepares to support fans travelling to My Chemical Romance concerts at Wembley Stadium, with additional services planned to help passengers attending the shows on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 July.
