A Solihull man has been jailed for six years after admitting two counts of attempted robbery following an incident in Walsall earlier this year.

Police were called on 23 May after reports that two teenage boys had been approached near the railway station on Broad Lane in Bloxwich.

The pair were threatened and demands were made for their bicycles.

During the incident, 18-year-old Dylan Beard threatened to stab the boys and attempted to steal their bikes.

However, the teenagers managed to hold on to their bicycles and prevent them from being taken.

One of the victims was punched in the face and suffered a broken nose as a result of the attack.

Following an investigation by officers from Walsall CID's robbery team, Beard was identified as the suspect and arrested at his home in Campville Grove, Solihull, just days after the incident.

Beard later pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted robbery.

The 18-year-old was sentenced to six years in prison on Wednesday, 22 July.
