Solihull town centre is set to host a three-day celebration of food, farming and community later this week as the Solihull Food and Harvest Festival gets underway.

Hosted by Solihull BID, the festival will take place across the town centre from September 25 to 27, bringing together food, live entertainment and family-friendly activities.

The festival opens on Friday with Harvest Harmony, which will see 17 local choirs performing across the town centre.

Visitors will also be encouraged to donate items to a food bank collection being organised as part of the event.

Saturday's programme includes live music from noon until 8pm, alongside street food stalls and an all-new farmers' market in Mell Square.

The market will bring together a range of local producers and businesses, including Becketts Farm, Hampton Manor and Blabers Hall Wine Estate, offering everything from baked goods and cheese to wine and spirits.

Organisers say the market aims to connect shoppers with the people behind locally made food and drink products while showcasing British farming and artisan produce.

The final day of the festival will introduce a new Barn Dance Festival Day, featuring free line dancing tuition and tribute performances celebrating country and folk favourites including Shania Twain, Dolly Parton and The Wurzels.

Families will also be able to enjoy children's craft activities and test their skills on a bucking bronco.

Meanwhile, a scarecrow trail running throughout the weekend will encourage visitors to explore the town centre and vote for their favourite display.

Those taking part will be entered into a draw to win a £100 Touchwood gift voucher.

The festival will take place across Solihull town centre from Thursday, September 25, to Saturday, September 27.
