Another proposal to turn a family home into a children's care home has been lodged for an area of Solihull, police say, which already has too many.

The latest plan for a three-bedroom house in Redstone Farm Road in Olton was submitted to Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) by applicant Mr Jaipal on September 9.

Few details have been included in the initial application.

The application form says the home would have two full-time and one part-time employee working at the home, providing residential care for two children in care.

The home has two car parking spaces with no proposal to change this.

And the form, filled out by planning agent Chintan Shah, says a site visit can be arranged for officers to visit.

The Local Democracy Reporting Service has been tracking the numerous applications submitted to the authority to convert family homes into homes for children in care across the borough in recent years.

Olton has been in the spotlight with a number of applications there.

Only last week SMBC's planning committee gave the go-ahead for another in the suburban village during a night four children's homes were approved.

West Midlands Police has been raising concerns over the number of children's placements within Olton, saying more could potentially add to significant demand when the area "has high crime, lots of anti-social behaviour and drug misuse".

This objection has been regularly highlighted to planners making decisions on applications for new children's homes in the area.

In April, Liberal Democrat councillor Laura McCarthy also brought forward a motion for debate looking to strengthen planning policy and lobby the government, following the rise in applications across Solihull.

This motion is set to be considered at future meetings.

A consultation is now underway on the latest Olton application with a closing date for submissions of October 14.
