A new planning application has been submitted to convert a house in Olton into a children's home after two previous proposals for the property were refused.

The application for Grange Road, submitted in July, asks for permission to change the property from a family home into a children's home for up to four children aged between eight and 17.

Planning documents show the property is currently a seven-bedroom home.

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council's heritage team said the proposed use, including parking at the front of the property, would not harm the character or appearance of the Olton Conservation Area.

The latest application follows two previous refusals for the site.

A proposal submitted in December 2025 sought to turn the property into a care home for up to five children.

It was refused because the proposed change from a normal home to a care home required full planning permission.

Planning officers said the change could not be made under existing planning rules and advised that a full planning application should be submitted if the applicant wanted to continue with the proposal.

A second application was made in January 2026, this time proposing a care home for up to four children.

This was also refused because the change of use required full planning permission.

The latest application has now been submitted as a full planning application and is awaiting a decision from SMBC.
