Five children's home applications are set to be considered by Solihull councillors next week.

Planning officers have recommended that all five proposals receive planning permission, with members of the planning committee due to make the final decision at a meeting on September 9.

All five applications seek permission to change the use of existing residential properties from dwellinghouses to children's homes.

One application relates to Wilmcote Road in Olton, where plans would see a change of use from a dwelling to a children's home for up to two children aged between five and 17, with a manager and up to two carers working on a rota basis.

Another proposal concerns Daytona Drive in Millisons Wood, which would see a house converted into a children's home for a single child, with a manager and up to two carers.

A third application relates to Delrene Road in Shirley, where plans would see a house converted into a children's home for up to two children aged between five and 17.

Elsewhere, proposals have been submitted for Wasperton Close in Castle Bromwich and Woodlands Lane in Shirley.

The Wasperton Close scheme would provide a children's home for up to three children and includes the conversion of a garage into a habitable room, while the Woodlands Lane application seeks permission to convert an existing house into a children's home.

In reports published ahead of the meeting, planning officers recommended that councillors approve each of the five applications, with some recommendations subject to planning conditions.

If approved, the proposals could provide accommodation for at least eight children across the borough.

Councillors are expected to make a final decision on each proposal when the planning committee meets on September 9.

These applications are the latest in a string of applications regarding change of use to childeren's homes in the area.
