Drivers are being warned of overnight closures on a key motorway link road near Chelmsley Wood later this month.

The northbound link road from Junction 7a of the M42 to the southbound M6 will be closed overnight from Monday 28 September until Sunday 4 October while HS2 carries out work in the area.

The closure will be in place between 9pm and 6am each night to allow workers to safely continue structure works and install parapets.

HS2 confirmed the final overnight closure will take place on Saturday 3 October, with the road reopening at 6am on Sunday 4 October.

A signed diversion route will be in place during each closure.

The work forms part of the wider HS2 programme, which is currently undergoing what the company describes as a comprehensive reset aimed at ensuring the railway can be delivered efficiently and at the lowest reasonable cost.

The structure works are expected to be completed during 2026, with further updates to be provided as the project progresses.
