People across Solihull are being urged to nominate local heroes who go above and beyond to help their communities.

Nominations have opened for the Solihull Civic Honours Awards 2027, which celebrate individuals, community groups, charities and organisations making a difference across the borough.

Members of the public can nominate others for recognition, as well as put themselves or their own group forward for an award.

Last year's winners included someone helping young people connect with their community through music and technology, and a Community First Responder who volunteers to provide life-saving assistance during medical emergencies.

The deadline for nominations is 11.59pm on Monday, November 16, 2026.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Monday, March 22, 2027.

The Mayor of Solihull, Cllr Sardul Singh Marwa MBE JP, encouraged residents to put forward people they believe deserve recognition.

He said: "The Solihull Civic Honours Awards are a wonderful way of spotlighting the many individuals, groups, charities or organisations who go above and beyond to make our borough a better place.

"You might know someone who deserves to be recognised for their dedication and commitment or have a positive story of your own to share.

"Whichever it is, I would encourage you to take a moment to submit your nominations and help us celebrate those who truly make a difference in Solihull."

There are several award categories recognising different contributions to the borough.

Individual awards include the Good Neighbour Award, the Volunteer Contribution Award and the VCFSE Organisational Leadership Award, which recognises leadership within the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector.

The Small Community Group or Charity of the Year Award, Health and Wellbeing Award, and Inclusive Communities Award are open to groups and organisations.

The Community Innovation Award recognises individuals and organisations introducing new ideas or creative approaches to community challenges.

The Community Parenting Award celebrates those supporting care-experienced children and young people.

The Mayor's Award is also part of the honours, although nominations for this category are not open to the public.

The recipient is chosen personally by the mayor.

The awards are fully funded by sponsors, with Touchwood confirmed as the main sponsor for 2027. Further category sponsors are expected to be announced.

Residents can find out more about the categories and submit nominations here.
