An investigation is ongoing after a break-in at the historic National Trust property Baddesley Clinton.

The National Trust confirmed that the incident took place in the early hours of Thursday, 30 July and is currently being investigated by Warwickshire Police.

The house was temporarily closed to visitors while enquiries were carried out, but reopened on Saturday, 1 August.

The gardens, parkland, café and shop remained open throughout.

A National Trust spokesperson said: "We can confirm that there was a break-in at Baddesley Clinton in the early hours of Thursday 30 July, which the police are investigating.

"As this is an ongoing situation, we are unable to offer any further comment."

The National Trust has urged anyone with information about the incident to contact Warwickshire Police by calling 101 or by submitting a report through the force's website.

No further details about the break-in have been released while the investigation continues.
