Drivers are being warned of two weekend closures on the A452 Kenilworth Road near Solihull as HS2 continues work in the area.

The road will be closed between Bradnock's Marsh and Meriden roundabout from 10pm on Friday 2 October until 6am on Monday 5 October.

A second closure will then take place from 10pm on Friday 9 October until 6am on Monday 12 October.

HS2 said the closures are needed following the installation of a contraflow on the new southbound carriageway of the A452.

During the closures, teams will be carrying out a range of works, including the installation of streetlights and signage, vegetation clearance and surveys.

In a notice to residents, HS2 said: "Following the installation of the contraflow on the new southbound carriageway of the A452, we need to close the road to progress our works."

The notice added: "We will be installing streetlights and signage, clearing vegetation and undertaking surveys between Bradnock's Marsh and Meriden roundabout."

A fully signposted diversion route will be in place throughout both weekends.

HS2 said access arrangements will be made for some local residents and businesses affected by the closure.

The notice stated: "Vehicles travelling to the Lincoln Farm Truck Stop; residents of Marsh Lane; Mercote Mill Farm and Marsh Farm 'The Nook' will be escorted through the closure from Bradnock's Marsh and Meriden roundabouts."

HS2 added: "We will reopen the road as soon as it is safe to do so."

The work forms part of ongoing construction activity linked to the high-speed railway project.

HS2 is currently carrying out what it describes as a "comprehensive reset" of the programme, which it says is intended to ensure the railway can be delivered "efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost".

According to the latest update, the work is being carried out in stages and is expected to be completed in 2026.
