Residents are being invited to lace up their running shoes and take part in Hampton-in-Arden's first charity run in a number of years later this month.

The Hampton in Arden 2 Lakes Run will take place on Sunday, September 20, starting and finishing at Hampton in Arden Sports Club on Shadowbrook Lane.

Participants will tackle a 6.2km route from the sports club to Barston Lake and back, with runners who want an extra challenge able to complete the course twice.

The event will also feature a fun day at the sports club.

Organisers say the run is open to people of all ages and abilities and is designed to bring together the Hampton-in-Arden community and beyond while raising money for the British Heart Foundation.

The charity was chosen because heart disease has affected several members of the organising committee and their families.

Organiser Graham suffered a cardiac arrest in November 2025 and was saved by family members who performed CPR.

He now has an implanted defibrillator, which can help restore his heart's rhythm if needed.

Other committee members have also been personally affected by heart disease.

Alison's father survived a cardiac arrest, while relatives of Steve, Chico and Aman have died from heart attacks or heart-related illnesses.

Organisers said the experiences highlighted the impact heart disease can have on individuals and their families and inspired them to support the British Heart Foundation through the event.

They hope the run will not only raise vital funds for the charity but also increase awareness of heart conditions and the importance of life-saving interventions such as CPR.

Further information about the event and how to take part is available through the Hampton in Arden 2 Lakes Run website.
