Dorridge footpath to close for month for boardwalk replacement

A footpath in Dorridge will be closed for more than a month while improvement works are carried out by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC).

SMBC has announced plans to temporarily close Footpath SL48, which runs from Arden Road to a field at the borough boundary, to allow for the replacement of a wooden boardwalk.

The closure began on 10 August 2026 and will remain in place until 13 September 2026.

The route will be closed to pedestrians 24 hours a day throughout the works.

According to the council, the temporary closure is necessary to ensure the works can be completed safely.

A signed diversion route will be in place, directing pedestrians through the park to Grange Road and then Windmill Lane.

Access for emergency services, including police, fire and ambulance vehicles responding to incidents, will be maintained throughout the closure.

SMBC said pedestrian access to properties within the affected area, and access through the restriction where possible, will also be maintained along defined routes during the works.
