Anti-migrant and counter-protestors are set to gather in Chelmsley Wood next weekend.

Both Chelmsley Wood Patriots and Stand Up To Racism Solihull have confirmed they will be demonstrating at Chelmsley Wood bus interchange on Sunday 15 November.

In a public statement, the Patriots said their campaign was focused on "stronger border controls, lawful deportations and opposition to HMOs being used to accommodate people without established immigration status in our community".

The group acknowledged the planned counter-protest, saying the two sides had "fundamentally different views on immigration, border controls, deportations and the use of HMOs within our communities".

The Patriots have urged supporters not to approach or confront opposing demonstrators, stating: "We ignore the opposition. We do not engage."

The group also said it would have stewards and police liaison arrangements in place, adding: "Everyone's safety is our absolute priority."

Meanwhile, Stand Up To Racism Solihull has called on residents to "stand together against racism and intimidation" and encouraged people to attend its gathering in Chelmsley Wood.

The group has also invited residents to sign a statement and shared comments from local people about the Chelmsley Wood Patriots.
