A Solihull primary school has been praised for delivering high standards across almost all areas of school life following a recent Ofsted Inspection.

Inspectors awarded Dickens Heath Community Primary School a "strong standard" judgement in six key categories, with one area meeting the "expected standard".

The report also confirmed that safeguarding standards are being met.

The inspection was carried out under Ofsted's new report card system, which assesses schools across a range of areas rather than awarding a single overall grade.

Inspectors highlighted the school's strong academic performance, inclusive culture and positive learning environment.

The report found that pupils achieve above national averages in reading, writing, and mathematics, while attendance also remains above the national average.

The report said: "Pupils achieve very well.

"Pupils' achievement at the end of key stage two sits above national averages in reading, writing, and mathematics.

"This includes disadvantaged pupils.

"Pupils learn very well across key stages one and two.

"Their work in books is of a high standard across all subjects."

Inspectors also praised the school's approach to supporting pupils with additional needs, particularly within its specialist provision, The Willows.

The report added "Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities also perform well.

"This is particularly the case in "The Willows" specially resourced provision, where pupils progress extremely well from their starting points, both academically and in their social and emotional development."

Attendance and behaviour were also recognised as strengths.

The report said: "Pupils love coming to school.

"Attendance is above the national average, and persistent absence is falling across year groups.

"Pupils' behaviour is very positive.

"Relationships between pupils and adults are warm and respectful.

"Behaviour across the school is calm and purposeful."

Inspectors found that inclusion sits at the heart of the school's work, praising leaders and staff for ensuring pupils receive the support they need to succeed.

The report said: "Inclusion lies at the heart of the school's work.

"Leaders and staff know their pupils well and are ambitious for what they can achieve.

"These pupils thrive and make rapid progress."

Leadership also received praise, with inspectors recognising the vision set out by school leaders and governors.

The report added: "Leaders successfully prioritise positive relationships and inclusive practice to ensure that all pupils belong and thrive.

"Throughout the school, leaders and staff consistently act in pupils' best interests."

Inspectors also highlighted the school's personal development programme, which includes opportunities ranging from caring for animals on the school farm to residential visits and enrichment clubs.

The report said: "Pupils benefit from a well-planned and highly effective programme for personal development and wellbeing.

"This adds to pupils' sense of ownership and belonging."

Dickens Heath Community Primary School was awarded a 'strong standard' in achievement, attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing.

Safeguarding requirements were also met.
