Knowle joint-manager Clive Seeley hailed Connor Mort's 'striker's instincts' after he struck a late equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw against FC Peterborough on Saturday afternoon, writes George Revell.

It looked as though Knowle were on course for their first league defeat of the season when David Yisah finished off a quick counter-attack to put the visitors ahead after just 12 minutes.

But the ball dropped kindly for Mort to poke home from close range after George Seeley's 90th-minute corner and Knowle's unbeaten start remained preserved.

And Clive Seeley, George Seeley's dad, was pleased with how Mort reacted to level the game.

He said: "George put one in and it fell to him (Mort) - but you know, striker's instincts from our full-back!"

Knowle had taken maximum points from each of their eight league games before FC Peterborough arrived at The Robins' Nest.

It was always going to be a disappointment for Knowle whenever that perfect record inevitably came to an end, but Clive Seeley insists his team have got to be happy with how they have started the season.

"I think we've got about a quarter of our games played and we're sitting pretty at the moment," he commented.

"There are teams breathing down our neck but it's a fantastic start - we could only dream of starts like this after back-to-back promotions."

Knowle remain top of the United Counties Premier South, on 25 points after just nine matches, and face a long trip to Lincolnshire for their 10th league game of the season next weekend.

They face Blackstones away from home on Saturday, October 10, with kick-off at 3pm at the SBJ Stadium.
