A replica Spitfire will be coming to Solihull High Street for a special event celebrating the iconic aircraft and its role in British history.

Spitfire Saturday will give visitors the chance to get up close to the legendary plane, meet military personnel and cadets, chat to veterans and hear stories about those who served.

The family-friendly event will also feature live music inspired by the 1940s, performances of Winston Churchill's famous speeches and activities for children.

The event will open at 11am, with the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal running throughout the day until 4pm.

Children will be able to take part in a free creation station between 11am and 3pm, where they can make their own poppy bookmarks.

Entertainment will begin at 11.10am with a choir performance from the D-Day Darlings.

Performers will then recreate iconic Winston Churchill speeches from noon until 12.15pm.

Vintage singer Helen Pearson will perform wartime favourites from 12.30pm until 1pm, before returning to the stage for further performances between 1.45pm and 2.15pm and 3.15pm and 3.45pm.
