Three Solihull councillors exposed for ‘misogynistic and offensive’ comments in ITV investigation

Three Solihull councillors have been named in an ITV undercover investigation which recorded comments described as racist, Islamophobic and misogynistic.
The year-long investigation, broadcast on ITV News on Wednesday (October 14), featured footage recorded by undercover journalists while the councillors were campaigning ahead of the local elections in May 2026.
Former Reform UK councillors Alan Feeney and Chris Whelan, and current Reform member Cllr Jamie Campbell were recorded making a series of controversial and offensive remarks, including comments about Asian people, Muslims and women.
During a conversation about campaigning, Cllr Feeney said: "If it's an Asian name I'm not even knocking on the door, they are not voting Reform and I ain't wasting my time."
He was also recorded saying: "I'd be saying no more than one per cent of the British population can be non-white."
In another conversation, Feeney made a comment about removing people from the country, saying: "Drag them out their homes, stick them on planes and f*** them off to Pakistan."
He also described Muslims as "parasites".
The investigation showed Cllr Feeney denying to a voter that he was targeting Asian people.
In footage discussing a proposed mosque, Cllr Campbell said: "Go and buy some pork chops. We'll bury it in the ground."
Cllr Feeney responded by saying he had been going to say: "Unfortunately this is a pig cemetery mate."
Cllr Whelan was recorded making comments about a female colleague, including: "If she was my daughter, it would still be bath night on a Thursday."
In another exchange about a female colleague from Birmingham, he said: "I'd have been sniffing that seat as soon as she got up."
Cllr Feeney won his seat in May with a large majority and became deputy mayor.
Councillors Campbell and Whelan also won seats in the local elections.
Both councillors Feeney and Whelan have left Reform to stand as independent councillors after being approached by ITV for comment, before the investigation was broadcast.
'Personal reasons' were cited for the defections.
ITV News reported that all three men did not respond to its requests for comment.
In a statement to ITV News, Reform UK said: "Where members, activists and councillors have clearly behaved inappropriately, investigations have commenced. In some cases, there have been suspensions and due process must be followed.
"Reform UK has improved and prioritised its vetting procedures but from time to time a handful of individuals who do not share our values will initially make it through vetting, this is the same for all organisations."
A spokesperson for Reform UK Solihull said to Nub News: "Reform UK Solihull strongly condemns the misogynistic and offensive comments made by Cllrs Feeney and Whelan, who are both no longer Reform UK councillors.
"Cllr Feeney was briefly with Reform, but spent the majority of his time as a Conservative councillor, first elected for the Tories over a decade ago.
"Neither councillor reflects the views of the group."
Speaking on Cllr Campbell, a spokesperson said: "Cllr Campbell's comment was a joke in poor taste but with no malicious intent.
"It's something that he deeply regrets, and the party will not be taking any further action."
The full investigation is due to be shown in ITV's Exposure programme on Sunday.
