Three men were arrested in Solihull after officers recovered a knife during proactive patrols targeting knife crime and youth violence.
West Midlands Police's Project Guardian team was patrolling the borough on Saturday, September 26, when the arrests were made.
A 19-year-old man, Asad Ali, has since been charged with possession of a bladed article after a knife was recovered by officers.
He is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court on October 20.
Two other men, aged 48 and 35, were also arrested during the operation and have been bailed while enquiries continue.
The Solihull arrests came as Project Guardian officers carried out patrols across the West Midlands, with a 25-year-old man also arrested in Coventry after officers recovered suspected Class A drugs, cash and mobile phones believed to be linked to drug dealing.
The force said the initiative uses a range of tactics including plain-clothed operations, high-visibility patrols and engagement with young people to help reduce knife crime.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols and positive engagement with young people."
Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity is urged to contact West Midlands Police via 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
