A Birmingham man has been charged with multiple offences following an investigation into a series of vehicle thefts across Solihull, Birmingham and Oldbury.

Mohammed Hussain, 27, of Birmingham, has been charged with eight counts of theft of a motor vehicle, one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and two driving offences: driving without insurance and driving while disqualified.

The charges follow enquiries by West Midlands Police's Solihull Neighbourhood Crime Team and Solihull Vehicle Crime Team into a number of vehicle thefts reported over the past two months.

Police said officers had been investigating the theft of eight cars since 8 June.

The vehicles were allegedly stolen from addresses across Solihull, Birmingham and Oldbury.

During one of the incidents in Solihull, a man suffered injuries while his vehicle was being stolen.

Hussain was arrested on Friday, 17 July, before being charged and appearing at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Monday.

West Midlands Police said vehicle crime would not be tolerated in Solihull or elsewhere in the region and that officers remain committed to tackling the issue.
