Plans for two new bungalows opposite a pub in Lapworth have been revealed.

A planning application has been submitted for the new homes next to Kingswood Manor House and opposite the Navigation Inn.

A previous plan for a home on the land at Old Warwick Road was refused by Warwick District Council in 2021, but the fresh scheme says it has taken on feedback from five years ago.

"In this new application, our approach has been to take inspiration from the half timbered and rendered cottages that neighbour the site, to ensure that the new cottages fit in with the character of this area of this rural village," plans stated.

If approved, the scheme would see two dormer bungalows built to "provide smaller dwellings within the village".

The access to the site has also been made smaller from the previous application.

"The properties are designed to blend in with the character of the local area, particularly this area of the village alongside the canal," the application continued.

"The materials, scale and form of the building are reminiscent of neighbouring properties.

"The positioning of the buildings on the site retain all the existing planting to the boundaries, and avoid any urbanisation such as gates, boundary walls or tarmac driveway.

"The access in the hedgerow is reduced to 5m, and the buildings are low in height so the street scene would remain largely unchanged."
