The latest plans for an historic Solihull nightspot to be turned into a pub have been signed off by council planners.

London pub brand Heartwood Inns has been granted planning permission to turn the former Missoula Bar and Luna club into a new venue.

The building - which dates back to the 17th century - has sat vacant for over eight years since the previous businesses closed.

The fresh scheme will see the High Street unit turned into a "pub with rooms".

Plans submitted to Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) show Heartwood intends to call the Inn The Muddy Fox.

The multi-million-pound investment will see 26 bedrooms created alongside a landscaped terrace and garden.

Heartwood entered into an agreement with the council earlier this year, before submitting a full planning application.

This has now been approved by council planners.

"It is recognised that the building no longer serves any viable purpose in its former nightclub use," Heartwood wrote in its application.

It added the works would replace the "negative visual impact of a long-term vacant building with an active, well-maintained and publicly accessible use".

Heartwood already operates pubs in Henley-in-Arden and Stratford-upon-Avon as well as elsewhere.

The company has promised "seasonally changing menus" and "carefully curated drinks list" for the new Solihull venture. This as well as "boutique-style" bedrooms.

Missoula and Luna both closed in 2018 following a compulsory purchase order, as part of the Touchwood expansion that never materialised.

The venue has also previously been called The Malt Shovel, Snooty Fox, Loaf, Popworld, B91, Rosie O'Brien's, Rosie's Pump House and The Pump House.
