Firefighters tackle grass fire at Dorridge park

Firefighters were called to a grass fire at Dorridge park on Saturday evening, after flames broke out in an area of parkland.
West Midlands Fire Service said crews were dispatched shortly before 5pm on Saturday, 11 July, following reports of a fire near Arden Road in Dorridge.
A fire engine from Solihull and a 4x4 brigade response vehicle from Hay Mills attended the incident, with the first crew arriving within five minutes of being called.
On arrival, firefighters found a small grassland fire affecting parkland near Dorridge Scout Hut.
Crews used a hose reel and beaters to extinguish the blaze and stop it from spreading.
The fire is believed to have started accidentally, according to West Midlands Fire Service.
Firefighters remained at the scene to damp down the affected area and ensure there was no risk of the fire reigniting before leaving at around 6:20pm.
No injuries were reported.
The incident comes as West Midlands Fire Service continues to remind residents to take care during periods of warm, dry weather.
